Jacob's 8th Birthday!

Jacob turned 8 on 13 Feb. We threw him a birthday party - his first with friends. He had a lot of fun. He invited 12 boys, and 10 of them were able to come. With Joseph and Jacob we had 12 boys running around the house. It was pretty noisy at times, but they had a lot of fun!

Jacob picked Star Wars for his theme. We played a few games that went along with the theme. I think the boys' favorite was the "Clone Wars" where we borrowed the marshmallow shooters from Jared's parents and let the boys "fight" each other. Jared and I even got involved, and it was fun.

Then Jacob was able to open his presents as shown below. Jared taught the boys how to do "Heavy, Heavy Present." I had never heard of it before, but the boys thought it was fun to do. Jacob got hit on the head a few times with some of his gifts!

I had fun making Jacob's cake. I got the idea off the internet. It suggested using fruit roll-ups for the lava, so I did. I wished I would've just made orange and red frosting to use for it. Anyway, it still turned out good. Jacob really liked it, and all of his friends thought it was pretty cool.

It was a fun day! We planned it to last 3 hours, but the boys just breezed though everything. We sent them outside to play, but that didn't last very long. They ended up just watching "The Clone Wars" for the last hour, but everyone still had fun. It was fun to plan and put on for Jacob, but I'm glad we don't do one every year for each kid. That would be too much for me, I think.
